Max Jorge Hinderer about "Cosmococa"
Max Jorge Hinderer is a writer, translator and cultural critic specialising in Latin American studies. He has published numerous essays on the political economy of psychoactive substances, colonial history and aesthetic theory in a many international journals.
He also curated the exhibition “The Potosí Principle”, in collaboration with the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin, in which he presented a critical re-reading of the dynamics of global capitalism from the angle of Spain’s colonial empire.
SON[I]A talks to Max Jorge Hinderer about the Cosmococa series of performance-projections that Brazilian artist Hélio Oiticica imagined in the seventies in conjunction with Neville Almeida. ‘Cosmococa’ are complex environments that include synchronised projections of footage of celebrities, with lines of cocaine traced over them.
