Àngels Ribé is one of the artists who have most solidly contributed to the renewal of forms, materials and grammars of art since the 1970s. Utilising the body, including rather unconventional materials from nature and investigating space as a relational setting are some of the characteristic features of her actions. Her work is a poetics of fragility that contests the perennial hierarchies of patriarchal society. The exhibition entitled “In the Labyrinth. Àngels Ribé 1969-1984” brings together some seventy works, including a number of previously unseen photographs and drawings that document her ephemeral interventions, several installations specially reconstructed for the event and some pieces that have not been seen again since they were first presented over thirty years ago.

Son[i]a speaks to Bartomeu Marí, Teresa Grandas and Àngels Ribé about the exhibition.

Àngels Ribé creates works in which space, nature and the body become the articulating elements of a poetics of fragility based on de-emphasising the artistic object, the use of unconventional materials, and a defense of the ephemeral.
