SON[I]A talks with Charles Esche, director of the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, and MACBA director Manuel J. Borja-Villel, about the centre-periphery dialectic and about local reality. Two museums with complex local realities reveal a shared interest in micro-narratives that reflect the complexity of their realities. Two philosophies that understand the collection and the museum as a structure that should create a space for democracy and tension between different identities, based on networking and the creation of a relevant archive.
