The "Peter Friedl: Work 1964–2006" exhibition raises issues regarding the genre of "retrospective," that is, the museum-based exhibition of an oeuvre within the framework of institutional logic and through the context of its own history. Presented at the MACBA in the form of a retrospective, Friedl's work highlights political awareness, autobiography, permanent displacement, design interventions, potential counter imagery, and the reinvention of genres left over from the history of modernism. This SON[I]A speaks about Peter Friedl's work with Bartomeu Marí, chief exhibition curator at the MACBA.
