The local question, one of the MACBA's philosophical lines, tries to examine the condition of the centre-periphery of Barcelona with respect to the large modern centres of the 20th century, creators of a canonical discussion on modern art.
With the city as a pivot, the museum is rethought as a space for debate that addresses the act of living together and the conflicts that arise in the public sphere at the same time. Linked to the city, photography will be the fundamental medium of the 20th century for building the image of what is real (reality). SON[I]A speaks with Jorge Ribalta, head of Public Programmes of the MACBA, on the local question, photography and the Museum's programme of activities for the beginning of 2007.
