Andreas Siekmann and Alice Creischer
German artist duo Alice Creischer and Andreas Siekmann recently led a workshop at the MACBA in which they worked with participants on updating part of the project “Atlas”. This project was begun in 1929 by economist and philosopher Otto Neurath and artist and philosopher Gerd Arntz in an attempt to study the economic conditions of the time, and ended up becoming a tool for historical and cultural analysis.
This workshop focused on updating pages 45 and 46 of the “Atlas”, setting up an analogy between today’s soy industry and natural rubber production back when the Atlas was produced. The result of this process will be part of the upcoming exhibition Modernologies.
Son[i]a talks to Alice Creischer and Andreas Siekmann about their work on the “Atlas” project.
Bartomeu Marí and Sabine Breitwieser talk about the exhibition "Modernologies. Contemporary artists researching modernity and modernism".
