Carles Guerra about 'Critical Episodes (1957-2011)'
Since the sixties, contemporary art has been associated with periodic crises – crises that do not just affect art, but are global in scope. As such, it is possible to chart a path that takes us from the self-critical reflection of modern painting to artists’ attempts to make sense of the world as an ever-changing system of relationships.
Based on this premise, the latest exhibition of the MACBA collection suggests some precedents of what we have come to call ‘systemic crisis’, through a series of six semi-autonomous episodes.
SON[I]A presents Carles Guerra, who takes us on a chapter-by-chapter tour through all the concepts that are addressed in this selection of works from the Collection.
