RADIO WAVES #1
Hot Songs for a Cold War

Curated by Serge Guilbaut
This three program series directed by Serge Guilbaut, allows to analyse how intermeshed music was with art scene (1946-1956) and how at times they were closely connected with the intense politics of the Cold War.
The first part deals with the subversive and crucial influence of American swing music in France during the Occupation, before the French scene divided itself between the ‘pure’ New Orleans supporters and the critical supporters of ‘Be-Bop.’
