Oriol Vilanova recites 'Còpies'
In this sound piece, Oriol Vilanova recites, one after another and in no particular order, the more than one thousand names of the cities featured in his postcard collection of triumphal arches ‘Còpies’, one of his works in the MACBA Collection.
Somewhere between poetic intervention and absurdity, Vilanova’s calm recital functions as a rereading of material acquired in flea markets, one of his obsessions, and emphasises some of the key concepts in his modus operandi, such as repetition, in-between spaces, semantic turns, intervals and transitions.
This is an email conversation with the sound poetry and voice collector Eduard Escoffet, which took place in Summer 2013.

Oriol Vilanova works with materials from flea markets: postcards, books and other documents which he collects, sorts and recomposes to create new mental journeys.
Although Gil J Wolman's seminal sound work has been largely overlooked, it was a precursor of sound poetry and is one of the key elements of Lettrist poetry. This radio show reconstructs the link between Lettrism, sound poetry, and the work of some isolated but fundamental figures.
