Pere Portabella's oeuvre lies on the confines between filmmaking, arts practice and political commitment. His films have been and continue to be subversive in as much as they explore the poetic and political possibilities of a language – film language – that usually obeys the laws of a psychologist narrativity that is a legacy of Aristotelian thought. In the filmmaker's own words: "Film is the young art form that has most quickly aged."
