"Timelines" is the first retrospective in Spain to be devoted to the work of Joan Jonas, a pioneering performance, experimental film and video installation artist. The exhibition proposes a reading of Jonas's art that links her approach to performance with the origins of video installation as a genre, generating thematic circles that highlight the different focuses around which she has developed and organised her work. SON[I]A asks Manuel J. Borja-Villel, Bartomeu Marí and Joan Jonas for their impressions of the exhibition, providing in-depth exploration of Jonas's use of video, transparencies and masks, as well as the way in which she constantly brings the performative element into play.
